Proceeds from the sponsorship are invested into the St. John’s Ambulance volunteer program.
CANA Construction is a proud supporter of the Mustard Seed and Brenda’s House, a transitional home for homeless families. Over several years our generous contributions in support of the Bannerman Clark Christmas Day Dinner meant that the organization was able to serve thousands of meals at the Mustard Seed and hundreds of meals with presents at Brenda’s House. Each Christmas season, CANA employees volunteer their time to prepare and serve meals at the Mustard Seed.
CANA Construction is proud to be involved with the Calgary Flames Foundation, which supports initiatives that bring positive changes to the lives of southern Albertans through health, education and grassroots sports programs. We are proud to support this important foundation that promotes and supports amateur sports, rink renovations, the Ronald McDonald House and other important local organizations.
CANA Construction completed Camp Kindle for the Kids Cancer Care Foundation in 2012. Camp Kindle is owned and operated by the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta and serves families and community groups affected by childhood cancer. Situated 80 kilometers northwest of Calgary on 160 acres, the camp features a pond surrounded by lush forest and pasture. CANA and the Simpson family are proud supporters of the Kids Cancer Care Foundation and have made donations to the organization in support of the construction of Camp Kindle.
As the Construction Manager for this project, CANA Construction provided services at a discounted rate and was involved with the Camp Foundation in assisting in the procurement of donations from sub-trades and suppliers.
Since the completion of the Camp Kindle project, CANA continues to provide support to the Kids Cancer Care Foundation by matching donations made by our employees, as well as with regular contributions to the organization.
CANA is an ongoing supporter of the scholarship program at SAIT Polytechnic, providing annual donations to the Project Management group. Our scholarship assists students who are excelling in their program and demonstrate the strong leadership skills that our industry is looking for in future graduates.
The Simpson Family Endowment was established in 1988 with the purpose of launching the Graduate Program in Physical Education for two years and then initiating the operation of the Sport Medicine Centre by supporting research, teaching and administrative activities. The Simpson family made an initial donation to the University of Calgary of $1,000,000 that was matched by the province of Alberta Capital Matching program. With continued interest on the initial investment, the Simpson Family Endowment is now worth over $5,000,000 in support of the University’s Faculty of Kinesiology.
The endowment has also supported students, graduates and research technicians by financing research/ fellowship programs and the purchase of medical and scientific research equipment. The interest of the endowment has also been instrumental in supporting the basic and applied research activities of the Roger Jackson Centre for Health and Wellness.
The Simpson family and the CANA Group are extensively involved with the University of Calgary. The University’s gymnasium is named after John’s father, the late Jack Simpson. CANA also donated $2,000,000 to fund the Faculty of Medicine Simpson Ranch Chair in Beef Health and Wellness.
