CANA completed the Calgary Courts Centre for Alberta Infrastructure and Alberta Justice, as well as other major stakeholder groups. The 1,000,000 ft2 building contains 73 court facilities, which, when constructed, was the largest number of courtrooms in one building in North America. The Calgary Courts Centre was completed in one of the most active construction periods in Calgary history with unprecedented escalation and labour shortages. Despite this challenge, the project was completed on time and on budget. This project was not only high-profile, but satisfied the requirements of a multitude of user groups and stakeholders, including Alberta Justice.
The facility features two concrete towers, 20 and 24 stories respectfully, joined by the 140m open atrium. CANA Own Forces completed all concrete work on the project, pouring over 63,000 cubic metres of concrete over the two towers. The facility also features a prisoner holding area, prisoner transfer facility and secure prisoner cells that are adjacent to courtrooms.
CANA fit-out the entire facility including security and IT components, as well as furniture installation.
