The Calgary Soccer Centre was the first totally enclosed indoor facility built in North America exclusively for soccer. The award winning facility extends over 110, 000 ft2 and features five indoor soccer fields. All of the fields can be combined to produce one full sized regulation field for competitions. The facility also features change room facilities and a food services area, along with six outdoor fields and a parking lot space. This project was the first in Canada to employ the Australian “Strarch” roof system for clearspan roof trusses. This system allowed for roof decking and other materials to be installed more economically and efficiently; CANA played a key role in the procurement and selection of the system.
CANA was awarded the prestigious Canadian Construction Associations Hugh R. Montgomery Medal for the construction of the Soccer Center; this was in recognition of the innovative roofing system.
