The South Addition, part of the Rockyview Hospital Capital Expansion, was a 200,000 ft2 three story addition. The addition was designed to house an emergency department, ICU, CCU, lab and renal department.
Due to the close proximity of a residential area, the Glenmore Reservoir, and city pathway system, the design followed the curvature of the bike paths to maximize the building footprint. These adjacencies resulted in CANA implementing specific strategies to minimize impact. CANA coordinated with the nearby ICU/CCU departments; developed a protocol to deal with the active helipad; and implemented policies to deal with the adjacent environmentally sensitive locations.
