CANA constructed the original University of Calgary MacKimmie Library Tower (MLT) in 1972 and was selected as Construction Manager on the renovation in 2012. The MLT renovation included the selective demolition and re-construction of six floors of the MLT, totaling nearly 70,000 ft2. Renovations included asbestos abatement, interior demolition and new construction. MacKimmie Library Tower was originally used as library space, so to convert the floors to offices CANA added partitions (both fixed and demountable) around the inner core, and the outer floor plate has been left as open space and workstations. The renovation has allowed the University to accommodate 300 staff in the new offices.
