Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a cutting-edge tool that has proven to reduce risk, time and expense on our past projects. CANA leverages BIM to build projects in the virtual world first in order to minimize risk and deal with conflicts before construction begins. Major uses of BIM include clash detection, logistics planning, quantity take-offs, scheduling and sequencing, surveying and presentation modeling. BIM is an effective support tool for pre-construction and planning, as well as construction coordination. Our in-house capabilities give us the added advantage of increased customization.
CANA has developed an in-house cost-unit database. Used as a pricing tool, the program features current market pricing updated from recent tenders and product information to support costing for projects. This system is used to easily and efficiently assess trade pricing, assist with estimating, price changes and review alternate options.
Take-off software’s are tools that we use to help determine material quantities from digital plans. CANA typically utilizes Planswift in conjunction with Navisworks BIM software to confirm quantities. These systems allow us to accurately measure quantities thus reducing potential waste on site during installation.
iPad’s and other mobile viewing devices are used on site to enhance communication and access to real-time information. Speed and efficiency of performing reviews of the work has been increased significantly, allowing supervisors to easily view drawings, reports and project information while inspecting the work in person. New and revised project documents can be shared and tracked simply and efficiently.
CANA utilizes BlueBeam document review and management software to minimize storage of cumbersome documents on site and offer a database for drawings, specifications and project documentation to be viewed, revised and tracked electronically. This collaborative software, as well as other optional cloud-based management programs, connects the construction team with the clients, consultants and trades to promote efficiency and ease of access to project information.
